On 10/16/08, we went to Meadowlark Botanical Gardens in Vienna, Virgninia. I took over 100
pictures. I uploaded 40 of those photos, the ones showing various ponds, koi, turtles, and
animals. I did not include regular garden and plant photos because it would require too much
work and space (and is not relevant to ponds).
Aquarium - this large aquarium had a lot of huge goldfish and a
red-eared slider. It was way overcrowded so the water was murky. The little girl is my
niece.

Big Pond 1 - this was the first big pond we encountered. Since it
was fall, most vegetation had died back.Big Pond 1
Grasses - these huge grasses were growing at the edge of the pond.
I am not sure of the species but perhaps they included pampas grass, rice, and/or papyrus.

Big Pond 2 - note the gazebo on the water; it is from those
walkways that the next photos were taken.
Massive Snapping Turtle - this guy was at least 1.5 feet long not
including the long tail! He was covered in hair algae.

 Turtle - maybe a cooter?

Turtle - these next few photos, I cannot tell from them what species
the turtles were (I knew some of them at the time but am writing this more than a month
later).

Koi - we saw this one koi in the water. There were also a TON of
huge channel catfish and lots of sunfish. Photos of them did not come out at all and were barely
visible in person.
